Promoting counselling, in support of the students’ education; one on one or group counselling

- Help students to overcome behaviour problems, improve their time management, organization skills, establish academic goals, resolve interpersonal problems with other students and work out through their personal problems.
- Do not work alone with students
- Involve students, teachers or parents in the counselling process.
- Liaise with teachers to develop strategies for assisting a student with learning difficulties.
- Liaise with parents to discuss ways that they can apply to help facilitate
- Liaise with teachers and parents in special cases with students facing mental health issues or those with severe behavioural issues.
Refer students to external agencies that are professionally equipped to deal with the students concerns.
- May recommend to parents that their child undergo psychological assessment.
- It is a legal obligation of the School Counsellor to report incidents of child abuse or neglect to the relevant authority (Child Protection Unit).
All visitors and parents wishing to come into the school compound needs to go through the security personnel
at the gate to complete all formalities. They are then directed to the relevant personnel they wish to see by the security officer

office to the first or second floors where the teacher’s staffrooms are located.

Access To Parent On School Premises
Parents can be allowed on the school premises for the following:
- For a scheduled individual or group conferencing
- After having called for an appointment
However, Ile Perseverance Secondary School also have an open door policy. We encourage parents who want to drop by the school to see their children’s activity in the classroom or to talk to the head teacher or any member of senior management on any pertinent issues regarding his/her child.
In any of the above cases, the same procedures should be followed:
- Identification given at the school gate.
- Being escorted by a security personnel to the office to be attended to by the secretary.
- Availing oneself of a Visitor’s card if he/she is going beyond the office block to the office of the deputies, counsellor, staffroom or classroom.
Note To Parents
- NO PARENT IS ALLOWED TO SEE OR TALK TO ANY OTHER STUDENT (NOT HIS/HER CHILD) WITHOUT THE OTHER STUDENT”S PARENT BEING PRESENT.
- PARENTS ARE ADVISED TO DRESS PROPERLY TO AVOID ANY DISAPPOINTMENT.
